This option is great for those that have honey bees to obtain an agriculture valuation on the property but live elsewhere or just don't have the time or energy for the upkeep. Additionally, we can be trusted to take care of your bees on an ad-hoc basis if you take long vacations or are otherwise not available to check your own hives. Hive Maintenance Rates
Hive maintenance rates are pro-rated to the nearest quarter hour at $65/hour and each visit is charged a drive and mileage fee. We have no minimum for hive maintenance. Client will also be responsible for any additional items needed as part of regular maintenance. For example, replacing of queens (generally every 2 years) and feeding bees sugar water only as necessary. The drive and mileage fees are are as follows and based on the number of miles measured one way from your hives to our headquarters in the 78741 zip code.
- 0-10 miles: $20
- 11-20 miles: $35
- 21-30 miles: $50
- 31-40 miles: $65
- 41-50 miles: $80
Our beekeepers will provide you with a seasonal recommended hive maintenance schedule; however, ultimately the decision is yours on how often you would like us to inspect your hives. We schedule hive maintenance weekly, and will always advise you at least 48 hours before a check. Hive maintenance is generally scheduled Monday to Friday, between 8am and 6pm, and full access to the hives must be granted. You are welcome to attend any maintenance checks, and we provide appropriate protective gear at no additional charge. Please note that hive maintenance inspections are not intended to be lessons.
